Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation….

When I was a kid, Mom liked to make biscuits after dinner for dessert every now and then. One night in particular when she had made biscuits after a long, hard day at work.

It was a plate of extremely burnt biscuits! Yet all Dad did was to reach for his biscuits, smile at Mom and ask me how my day was at school. When I was leaving the table, I heard Mom apologize to Dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burnt biscuits."

Later that night, I asked Dad if he really liked biscuits burnt. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Mom put in a hard day at work today and she's really tired, yet she still took the time to make some biscuits for us. Besides, some burnt biscuits never hurt anyone!"

Over the years, I have learned that life is full of imperfect things and people, but tolerance is a good way to respond, and is the key to disclosing good intentions. Consequently, life tastes fine even if biscuits are burnt again.

Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation….
